News: The system remains in development.

- A loadtest dataset has been generated (Meaning: it contains completely fake data. The zipcodes have no bearing on the cities or states associated with them. This is not a bug, just a load test of the database.)
- Fun code of the day award: Gordon
With practically no runtime overhead, Gordon was able to add in a nice popup window on zipcode search results (roll the mouse pointer over 'details' to see what we mean) which shows the interpreter's location, rates and approximate distance (without needing to 'click for more details'). Gordon will receive two (2) additional cases of Diet Mt. Dew and his choice of Fritos (one (1) 7.5 oz. bag) from the DCRE commissary. - The initial load test indicates a 30 second delay on searches that have
a 50 miles radius with a database of 13,500. Our initial goal is to not
have a search run past 30 seconds, so we may need to adjust/revisit some
of the settings. A few questions came up during the review:
- Anyone have a clue how many interpreters there could be? 4K? 10K? 40K?
- Is a 50 mile radius reasonable, too small or too large? (Discussion from review: One size may not fit all.)
- We considered using the highest radius in the database (that is, the farthest distance a registered interpreter was willing to travel) but we're not sure how strong/accurate this data field will be yet, so....
- Is there a faster search algorithm. (We're looking at that one, of course)
We can size the database engine to fit, we're just not sure what target is reasonable yet. - The advanced search tab is 50% complete.
- Name, zip, city searches are active
- Schedule and capability searches work (i.e., "Monday afternoons, signing/cued speech" matches only the appropriate candidates)
- The description field is now searchable (the "About Me" entry field)
To be determined:- How best to add in a radius search on zipcode here
- How to support 'ranges' for rates
- What other search options should be added

Future Tasks
- Login for Interpreters
-
Modify Profile -
Update availability - Electronic submission of certification expiration (fax cards in?)
li> -
- Login for Clients
- Modify Preferences
- Store Search Profiles
- Generate Call Sheets of local interpreters
- Email new interpreters in the area
- Rank Interpreters (future)
- Improved Search System
- Add text search to specialization
- Add field to dbase to list names of major service areas (towns, cities, etc.) and make searchable
Bug Fixes / Corrections
- Correct pulldown for comment/feedback form
- Improve layout of interpreters registration
-
Add instructions for forms- Completed - Determine req'd fields (See: Interp privacy)
Current plan: Require name, number, zipcode. All else is optional. - Add data checks (prevent submission w/out req'd fields)
Concerns

- Interpreter Privacy li>
- Certification Discrepancies / Definitions li>
- Acceptance li>
